Beste recently obtained my doctoral degree in Operations Research from Georgia Institute of Technology, with a minor in Statistics. She received her bachelor's degrees in Industrial Engineering and Computer Engineering from BoğaziçiUniversity with High Honors. She also holds a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Boğaziçi University.
In her doctoral studies, Beste worked under the supervision of Shabbir Ahmedand Nagi Gebraeel. Her dissertation work focuses on developing novel stochastic optimization approaches by leveraging data analytics with applications in different energy related problems.
Beste is broadly interested in data-driven decision-making problems under uncertainty. Methodologically, her research focuses on developing mixed-integer, stochastic programming and distributionally robust optimization approaches to large-scale operations research related problems, specifically forapplications in energy systems, supply chains, mobility, and smart city operations. Her research also involves developing and integrating statistical modeling and business analytics approaches to optimization framework.
